Greetings from Pastor Pfaffe
The Faithful of St. Johns Church are committed to the Gospel of Christ fully presented in the Holy Scriptures, rightly explained in the Evangelical-Lutheran Confessions, and reverently proclaimed in the Holy Mass. The Faithful of St. Johns live this chief commitment in two ways: in faith and in love.

Since Dec. of 1995 both Churches have been served by Pastor Dan Pfaffe. He is a dynamic preacher and teacher whose love for the Word of God is clear to all who hear him and explore the Scriptures with him. He is also a student of the Church, striving to maintain the rich Liturgical and Doctrinal heritage of the Evangelical Lutheran Church

St. Matthew records these words from our Savior in his seventh chapter

"Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it." (Matthew 7:24-27 ESV)

With the powerful imagery of a house threatened by total destruction – along with its inhabitants - Jesus describes two totally different outcomes, depending on what one does with the Word of God. To “hear” and “do” what Christ says is to listen, believe, and obey God’s Word. It is that Word of God – the Holy Scriptures – that we believe, teach, and confess as members of St. John’s and Immanuel Lutheran Churches of Durand and Plum City, Wisconsin. If you are reading these words, you have already made the good effort to see what our congregations’ web site is all about. It is our fervent prayer that your faith in the Lord Jesus will be nurtured through the many different articles, sermons, Bible Study material, as well as links to connect you with other trustworthy Lutheran resources. As is the case with all worthy projects, is constantly updating; so please, come and see us often! It is also our prayerful hope that our great God and Savior will use this web site as a vehicle to draw you into an active worship life with us through the faithful hearing, believing, and receiving of God’s Word and His Holy Sacraments. For it is through these precious Means of Grace that the Holy Spirit keeps us in the one true Faith. Therefore, no matter what “rain”, “floods”, or “winds” your spiritual enemies hurl at you, you will be able to withstand them because you stand on the Rock – Christ Jesus, crucified and risen for you!

In the strong Name of Jesus,
Pastor Pfaffe
